From Ambition to Execution: Reflections on Digital Health Rewired 2026

Attending Digital Health Rewired 2026 was, once again, a powerful reminder of the incredible pace and ambition driving digital transformation across UK healthcare. Every year, this event serves as a vital barometer for our industry, but this year, the shift in the conversation was unmistakable.

Moving Beyond the "Why"

We are no longer discussing whether digital transformation is needed. That debate has moved on. Today, the focus is firmly on delivery, optimization, and measurable impact.

Across my conversations with NHS leaders, clinicians, and our partners, there was a clear emphasis on how we translate strategy into operational reality. The goal is no longer just "going digital"—it is about creating digital ecosystems that genuinely support safer care, enhance the clinician experience, and improve patient outcomes.

AI: From Hype to Responsibility

One of the strongest themes this year was the growing maturity around Artificial Intelligence. The conversation has rightly evolved from hype to responsibility.

The focus now is on how we adopt AI safely, ethically, and in ways that are truly embedded into clinical workflows. At MEDITECH, we believe the real opportunity lies not in innovation for its own sake, but in using intelligent technology to reduce administrative burden, improve decision-making, and—most importantly—give valuable time back to frontline teams.

The EPR as a Digital Foundation

These industry trends strongly reinforce our own vision. We see the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) as far more than just a system of record; it must be the digital foundation for connected, intelligent care delivery across the entire continuum of care.

The Power of Partnership

Rewired also reaffirmed a belief I hold deeply: technology transformation is fundamentally about partnership. Some of the most valuable insights didn’t come from the keynote stages, but from the conversations in between.

By listening to the challenges healthcare organizations navigate every day, we understand how we, as a trusted partner, can help them move forward with confidence. The future of healthcare in the UK will be shaped by collaboration, interoperability, and courageous leadership.

Looking Ahead

I left Rewired 2026 energized by what lies ahead and proud of the role MEDITECH continues to play in supporting the NHS and the independent sector on this journey.

The ambition is clear. Now, it is all about execution.
