For Telecom Reports

When you telecom schedule stops processing.

First check the Telecommunications Menu for these routines:

  • E/E Telecom Status
  • Telecom Process Status
  • Telecom Device Status
  • Make sure the jobs are running or idle, not HALTED or CRASHED.

Then check the Telecom Activity Report to look for errors.  The status will display DONE, Spooled "Y", and #Sorted should equal #Printed.  Find the report batch number.  Leave Telecom menu and check the Patient Reports menu.

At the Patient Reports menu choose List, and at the batch #, enter the report batch number you got from the Telecom Activity Report.  Here again, # Sorted should equal # Printed.  A quick way to check is just do a LOOKUP at the batch # and you'll see this information without having to actually view the report.  If everything looks okay to this point with no errors and #Sorted = # Printed, MEDITECH has passed the report information to the Print Manager on the background job client  and there is likely a problem with either the Print Manager on that client, the client itself, the network, wiring, or the printer.

To watch the job processing:
Look at the Telecom Site dictionary to find out the schedule of reports. Just before the report is supposed to print, go to the background job client, to watch the Print Manager.

Click on the Start Menu

  • Settings
  • Printers

Double click on the printer you want to watch when MEDITECH sends the reports to the Print Manager. You'll see it pop up on the queue, say Spooling, and then go away. If the batch gets stuck here, there could be something wrong with the printer or the Print Manager.

You will also see the Telecom print job start a job on the taskbar of the background job client. It will go away when it is done printing. If it gets stuck, there could be something wrong with MEDITECH's job, but you could then go back and check Lab's Telecom Process and Device Status routines for Telecom to see what the status is.
